For the Ardena Business Unit based in Somerset (US), we are looking for an Application Engineer.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
YOUR ROLE
The Applications Engineer is responsible for the ongoing management of software applications used across the site, including their implementation, maintenance, integration, and decommissioning. The role ensures systems operate reliably and efficiently, with a focus on data integrity, system interoperability, and compliance.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Application Lifecycle Management
- Oversee the lifecycle of SaaS and on-premise applications across business, laboratory, and production areas.
- Manage application configuration, upgrades, patching, user administration, and end-of-life transitions.
- Maintain system documentation, architecture diagrams, and change control records.
System Integration and Technical Operations
- Develop and support integrations using APIs, ETL tools, and system connectors to ensure data consistency across ERP, LIMS, MES, QMS, and other platforms.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for assigned systems using IT ticketing systems such as Topdesk.
- Coordinate issue resolution with internal teams and third-party vendors.
Business and Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand operational needs and translate them into system requirements.
- Liaise between users, IT, and vendors to ensure applications and data solutions support strategic goals.
- Participate in project planning, execution, and change management for new systems or enhancements.
YOUR PROFILE
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of experience in IT systems engineering, software application support, or a similar role.
- Strong experience with enterprise software systems (ERP, QMS, LIMS, etc.) and integration technologies (REST/SOAP APIs, ETL tools, middleware).
- Knowledge of GxP, data integrity (ALCOA+), and validation practices in a regulated environment (pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences preferred).
- Hands-on experience managing or supporting system integrations and connectors.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Understanding of cybersecurity and risk management as it relates to application and data governance.
