Ardena is hiring an Accounting Manager to join the Finance team at our Somerset, NJ site. This role supports pharmaceutical development and manufacturing activities within a GMP-regulated environment.
Role Description
This role is responsible for supporting the Finance Department in ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely month-end closings, budget control, treasury management, and financial analysis. The position plays a key role in maintaining effective accounting processes, supporting business decision-making, and ensuring compliance with financial and reporting requirements within a dynamic business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the monthly accounting close process, coordinating all closing activities to ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions, including accruals, provisions, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and adjustments in accordance with GAAP and internal reporting requirements.
Review, approve, and post journal entries while ensuring the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of the general ledger. Monitor accounting records and resolve complex accounting issues or discrepancies when required.
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis, investigating unusual variances, identifying root causes of discrepancies, and ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items.
Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, ensuring accurate coding and posting of invoices and payments, monitoring aging reports, supporting collection activities, and ensuring compliance with internal approval procedures.
Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and perform detailed analysis of actual results versus budget and forecast, identifying key variances, explaining business drivers, and supporting management with recommendations and corrective actions when necessary.
Support management in the preparation and consolidation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts by coordinating with department managers, gathering financial assumptions, analysing historical trends, and monitoring budget performance throughout the year.
Manage treasury and cash flow activities, including preparation of short- and long-term cash flow forecasts, liquidity monitoring, coordination of payments, and support in maintaining effective relationships with banking institutions and financing partners.
Coordinate external audit activities by preparing required supporting documentation, responding to auditor requests, ensuring compliance with audit requirements, and assisting in the implementation of recommendations or corrective actions.
Perform cost analysis by department and function, monitoring spending trends, analysing operational costs, and supporting management in identifying opportunities for cost control and process improvement.
Conduct project cost analysis and profitability reporting by monitoring project-related expenses, reviewing revenue recognition and project margins, and ensuring accurate financial tracking of ongoing operations and customer projects.
Document, review, and continuously improve accounting policies, internal controls, and financial workflows to increase operational efficiency, strengthen financial governance, and ensure consistency across accounting processes.
Profile & Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Knowledge/Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP) Proficient in ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, NetSuite preferred).
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, reconciliations, lookups)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Takes initiative, self-directed, and can operate with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadline.
Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement efficient accounting workflows.

The Salary Range for this role is $120,000.00 - $135,000.00
