For the Ardena Business Unit based in Somerset (US), we are looking for a Commercial Operations Manager/Proposal Writer
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
YOUR ROLE
The Commercial Operations/Proposal Writer Manager works closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Business Development (Sales), Project Management and Operations, and owns the process for the scoping, pricing, generation, and review of proposals for new and existing business. This role requires cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and strong project management skills to deliver competitive, and compliant proposals ensuring alignment with strategic pricing strategies and organizational goals.
The Commercial Operations Manager/Proposal Writer position will play a critical role in delivering high-quality solutions that align with Ardena’s mission.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead internal Proposal process and liaises with Project Management, BD Representatives, Operations, and Management/Key Stakeholders on the generation of, and pricing for, Quotations/proposals.
- Facilitate communication between functional areas of the organization (i.e. Sales, Project Management, Operations, Quality, Finance, etc.) to ensure on-time delivery of Quotations/proposals that are accurate and executable in terms of technical scope and meet costing/business margin targets.
- Develop and implement standard proposal templates utilizing relevant digital tools and solutions to streamline the process and reduce the cycle-time for proposal generation. Track proposal outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Works with Operational departments to ensure specific technical input for Development and Analytical Services work. Works with Sales, Operations, and Finance to produce optimal value pricing solutions.
- Communicate directly with client contacts and will participate in client meetings, as needed to support the Proposal / Sales process.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives to reduce cost and improve service levels, for both internal and external clients, and to support business objectives.
- Utilize CRM tool to ensure deals are accurately reflected to progress deal closure.
- Comply with Health, Safety & Environmental responsibilities for the position.
- Adheres to company standards for data integrity and regulatory compliance.

YOUR PROFILE
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business administration or relevant discipline with 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or related industry.
Knowledge/Skills:
- An understanding of the contract development / research, pharmaceutical and biotech industries; Knowledge and experience in cGMP and FDA regulated working environments is desirable.
Supervises: Proposal Team - strong leadership skills that align with Ardena's WE CARE values
- Must be computer literate, and proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, etc.
- Client-related experience and excellent client-facing skills - drives to meet, and indeed exceed, client expectations.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation, and interpersonal skills are required; Good problem-solving skills and strong mathematical abilities / finance skills.
- Possess strong business acumen and analytical skills and is results oriented.
Physical Requirements:
- Individual may be required to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds.
- Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen frequently.
